There are a lot of resources on how to make money online, but most of them are bullshit. Provided are a few basic concepts that people use to make money online today. While this shouldn’t serve as a step by step guide, I’ve included some great resources that can help you get started.
These methods are different than a traditional business model, because they’re focused on generating passive income. It’s money that will come in with little to no work. For me, I generate passive income and use that to automate payments for things that suck like rent, student loans, credit cards and car insurance.

Create something and sell it.
What most be the might amount of work with the biggest payoff, if you create a physical or electronic product to sell online you can continue to make money for an extended period of time. Examples of popular products that people create are books, e-books, guides, apps and software. I’m working on writing an e-book now that will teach you how to create a blog empire like WhiteRaverRafting.
You can use traditional models like eBay or Craigslist to sell items, but there are new communities that provide excellent opportunties as well. You can set up a store on etsy today and start selling your products.
This guy makes a $160,000 a year selling Evernote Essentials, a guide to using the app / software Evernote. Do you think you could do the same thing?
Content + Advertising
Creating content and putting advertisements on it is the easiest way to make money online. You can create a video, upload it to youtube, put ads on it and get paid every time that someone clicks an ad. You can follow my guide to set up a website in 10 minutes and then put google adsense on it. If you want to start today without paying any money and think that you can write something useful, check out Squidoo or Hubpages that will allow you to put ads and even an Amazon.com store on your page.
So while there are lots of different types of content you can create; blogs, websites, videos, reviews, etc., only certain topics will ever make you any money. You might create a website around dogs, but no one will ever find it or click on your page.
….a few words on niche content
Specialty or niche content surrounds a certain topic but instead of being something general like dslr camera’s, you might write about lenses for nikon dslr’s. While more people might be researching for dslr camera’s, you’ll be reaching a much more targeted audience with nikon dslr lenses. You could drill that down to Nikkor Lenses or Tamron Lenses for Nikon DSLR’s to reach an even more specific / niche market.
This is what your regular Google Adsense advertisement looks like… familiar right?
Affiliate marketing is selling someone else’s product or service. You’ll usually direct someone through your website, email list or facebook page to a website where they will make a purchase. After the user completes their purchase you will receive a commission ranging from a flat rate or a percentage of the sale. It’s easy because this way you don’t need to worry about shipping, returns or refunds. You send the people one way and you get paid. That’s it.
There are affiliate marketing products for everything imaginable. You can sell almost anything using the Amazon Affiliates program and then find additional products or services on sites like Clickbank or Commission Junction. Selling these products can be difficult. You need an audience, you need trust and then you need to get them to a buy page.
